HISTORY

The Man who started The Boys' Brigade Brunei
MR CHARLIE ARCHIBALD KEASBERRY

The 1st Brunei Company was started on the 19th JULY 1964 by Mr Charles A Keasberry at St Andrew’s Church. He subsequently became the 1st Captain of the 1st Brunei Company. The 2nd Brunei Company was established in 1979 at St Margaret’s Church in Seria. The Captain was Mr Daniel L Keasberry.

PRESENT

Due to government restriction, The Boys’ Brigade Brunei has persevered with the existence of two (2) The Boys’ Brigade companies ever since. A Bugle Fife Band was formed in 1967 and remained as the only youth organization in Brunei to have a band of its own. The Boys’ Brigade Brunei’s achievement has been encouraging despite the challenges posed by the local situation. Evidence of active personal involvement and commitment on weekly parade among the members and officers are the most visible encouraging scene in The Boys’ Brigade Brunei. Camps and trainings were held annually without fail.

Attempts have also been made to develop and prepare The Boys’ Brigade Officers (adults volunteer) to be better leaders and mentors.
