NAME
Aberdeen in Scotland was one of the earliest cities to adopt The Boys’ Brigade. Mr James Milner Fraser was a member of the 23rd Aberdeen Company and an Officer with the 23rd London Company. He founded the first The Boys’ Brigade Company in Singapore in 1930 when he came here as a young architect. He not only contributed to the physical infrastructure of Singapore but also the moral development of many Boys in his time.
The Boys’ Brigade activities were suspended during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore (Feb 1942 — Sept 1945). Officers and Boys remained fervently loyal to The Boys’ Brigade; Company records were preserved at great personal risks. After the war in 1945, SP Chua revived the 1st Singapore Company. He was joined immediately by James Milner Fraser and by 1950s, the Battalion had regained its old glory.
Today The Boys’ Brigade has more than 7,000 Officers and Boys in 118 The Boys’ Brigade Companies; each of which is attached to a school and co-sponsored by a church. Such schools include schools like Raffles Institution, Bedok South Secondary School, Unity Secondary School, Henry Park Primary School, Zhangde Primary School, Anglo-Chinese Junior College and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
The 3 independent programmes in The Boys’ Brigade In Singapore:

2. Seniors Programme for Boys from 13 to 16 years old
3. Primers Programme for Boys and Girls from 17 to 18 years old
The Boys’ Brigade has the distinguished patronage of the President of the Republic. The Boys’ Brigade is also endorsed by the Ministry of Education as one of the Uniformed Youth Organisations in schools.
Our commitment is not just to extend the benefit of The Boys’ Brigade programme to as many Boys as we can serve but to ensure the quality of our programme and activities. We strive to make our The Boys’ Brigade programme relevant by engaging the Boys in healthy, fun, challenging and meaningful activities.
Besides looking at Singapore, we are just as committed in introducing The Boys’ Brigade programmes overseas and challenging our Boys and Officers in engaging these overseas The Boys’ Brigade Companies. Our aim is the promotion of international understanding and the relations amongst and between the people of the countries around us, resulting in more internationalised view of the Boys.
We have our very own orchid hybrid!
In celebration of our 70th anniversary in 2000, we had an orchid named after us; Dendrobium Boys’ Brigade.
Have a Heart Share a Gift
We started The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift with the aim of spreading joy and cheer to the less fortunate in our community by collecting gifts during the Christmas season. The project celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2007.
Our Adventure Spirit
We organise The Boys’ Brigade Blaze for both our senior and junior Boys every year. This competition takes the Boys on an 8 to 10 hours race where teams go through various stations to complete their given tasks. Expect exciting activities like mountain-biking, kayaking, rappelling, rock climbing and more.
Our Artistic Talents
The Boys’ Brigade has our very own Pipes & Drums bands and Precision Drill teams that besides performing in our Brigade events had also performed in local events such as Chingay, CLAP (Community Live Art Performance), Singapore Youth Festival, MILK (Mainly I Love Kids) Run and others.
